How to write your first blog post.

This will be a very short post because really, this topic is super simple. The secret is...

JUST DO IT!

I know it may seem daunting and perplexing to type out your first post, but really once you write your first post you will be amazed at how quickly you accumulate more posts!

One tip: Wait until you have five to ten posts before you start sharing your blog with friends and family.

Yes, in a previous post I said that your family and friends will care less about your blog than you want them to, but generally you will not be writing for them. However, if potential readers (in this case friends and family) visit your blog and you only have one post they are less likely to return or sign up for e-mail alerts.

I would advise you to go ahead and set up social media accounts for your blog if you are going to promote, and promote each post (even the very first one). Again, I personally didn't share any of my social media accounts with friends or family until I had several things posted.

Also, all of the awesome education you have received about writing for newspapers, journals, or books...

The best way to keep a reader satisfied is to break up the monotony of the long drawn out paragraph. The internet is a vast place. If I get bored.. I find something else to read.

Be honest.. so do you!

So use
  • bullet points.
and
"Break up your post with important info highlighted by centered quotes."

#MahKitty just because
Photo's are also a great way to keep your reader interested.

If you are planning to write a story about a specific situation such as my "How a Tornado Saved My Life" post.. then yes you will need to include long paragraphs.. but break them up as much as possible.

Are you excited yet? Have you already written your first blog post?

Post a link to your first blog post in the comments section below!

Thanks for reading and as always remember "Sharing is Caring"!

Next week we will be back with
