Do crystals contain healing powers?

Hmm interesting question!

I have always been drawn to these rocks. When I was a child I would collect them and lay them out in the sun for no real reason. Or was there a reason?

According to livescience.com "Crystal healing philosophy taps into the traditional Asian concepts of life-energy (chi or qi) and chakras, which are vortices of this life-energy said to connect the physical and supernatural elements of the body" (resource).

After further research I have found that different crystals vibrate or resonate at different frequencies, meaning if we need emotional healing we can choose a crystal with a vibration known to sooth emotional trauma. The same applies for physical, mental, and even spiritual healing.

Crystals have been used for centuries, some of the first accounts we have are from the era of Ancient Rome when husbands would place a diamond on the third finger of the left hand because the underlying vein of that finger ran directly to the heart and they would infuse their love into the diamond.

Edgar Cayce (The sleeping prophet) said The ruby was to be worn "on hand or body" to "develop greater abilities for concentration" (Edgar Cayce Reading 531-3).

I'm sure you have heard of dowsing, it is a practice used when looking for water? Crystal dowsing is also a way of using the energy within ourselves to find things like water, lost objects, or even answers to questions.

The Crystal Pendulum amplifies small muscle movements that result from changes in the subtle energy flow through the body. There is a lot of very helpful information out there about this process, but I can tell you from experience it is definitely an interesting experiment that must be met with open-mindedness!

Where do you find crystals?

Some people prefer to buy theirs in gift shops, metaphysics stores, or in jewelry stores. Others like to go gem mining in the river, or at a local gem mine. In most areas of the world you can find the crystals in raw form by taking a walk in nature. One of my favorite stones came out of a river in Hiddenite, NC. Pictured to the right --->

The Quartz stones that contains mineral inclusions are called "rutilated quartz" or "sagenite", popularly known as Venus-hair stone. I was amazed when I reached into the rushing water and held this lovely stone in the sunlight. I had never seen a crystal quite this beautiful! As it turns out a rutilated quartz helps you to manifest your dreams.

There are many types of crystals, and many uses even if only to inspire awe when gazing upon them. Crystals are an indigenous part of our world and some of the best real estate in the world sits on crystals also known as mountains. Asheville NC for example is made almost entirely of quarts!

What are your thoughts about the healing potential of crystals? Do you use crystals? If so how? Which are your favorite and why? Tell us in the comments section below! Thank you for reading, if you all enjoyed this post we may write more about crystals in the future! -The Winters
