The only constant in the universe.

Change. The first thing you should have noticed is that we have had a name change. We had to change after we let the domain name expire, and the price for winterstead.com went up beyond our means. The good news is that we were able to raise the value of our brand.

We chose The Winter Times because it is just about us. Not about our homestead. Not about our road trip. Just about what we are up to. Whatever that may be at the time.


Today we are hanging out in Bullhead. This is a hot little town. I am sure there will be a lot to talk about. This weekend, for example, we have the river run.

If we run out of activities and events to write about we will write about our thoughts. Like why no one else I know seems too concerned about the Wal-Mart closings? We would think that it would have more people talking.

We started blogging hoping to create something useful. A place to show people how to use their land productively. When that ended, we thought a travel blog might get people chasing their dreams.

Now I must selfishly say this blog is to be useful to us. It will just be a chance for us to write. Even if we have nothing important to say.

It feels good to write, that is why we do it. Still it feels even better to be read. So I hope I find a voice that keeps the readers coming. Though I expect we will mostly write for a little corner of North Carolina.
